My name is Shamini Kanthan, my love for film only deepened. I began to appreciate the artistry behind every shot, from the lighting to the composition. And when it came to animation, I marvelled at how artists could bring characters to life with just a few strokes of a pen.
For me, watching films and animations is not just a form of entertainment; it's an experience that allows me to explore new perspectives and emotions. Whether it's a heartwarming Pixar movie or an action-packed Marvel blockbuster, each film has something unique to offer.
In the future, I hope to pursue a career in film or animation so that I can share my passion with others. Because for me, there's nothing quite like the magic of cinema.
The film industry has been a powerful medium for storytelling and representation. However, the South Asian community has been largely underrepresented in mainstream cinema. As a filmmaker, I want to change that by showcasing the diverse perspectives and experiences of South Asians. South Asians have a rich cultural heritage that is often overlooked or stereotyped in Hollywood films. it is important to give opportunities to South Asian actors, writers, and directors who have been marginalised in the industry. By providing these opportunities, we can create more diverse stories that accurately reflect our experiences.
Through this representation, we can inspire future generations of filmmakers to continue pushing for diversity in the film industry.
