Director Biography - Alexander Bocchieri

Alexander is an award-winning Native Hawaiian filmmaker based in Honolulu who creates documentaries and films. After graduating from the University of Hawai‘i, he made the acclaimed film Ike: Knowledge is Everywhere and directed the independent war drama Go for Broke. His work includes award-winning shorts and nonprofit profiles. In 2022, he joined Disney Launchpad and directed the short film The Roof, available on Disney+ and Apple TV.

Iʻm excited to be part of an amazing creative team that has turned over every stone to bring the Shaka story to the screen. After the recent pandemic, acidic politics, wars, recession and a rainbow of injustices, I believe the world is in need of some Aloha spirit.
