When I was a director of a social project, we asked Ukrainians if they could call their mom or dad and say "I love you." We got different reactions from people and their parents. There were also cases when people refused to call.
When I was looking for an idea for the movie, I remembered our experiment.
I wanted to make a movie about the topic of parents and children. But I didn't want to show the "parents" side. I wanted it to be a conversation about parents between a child and an adult child. In the first version of the script, Lesha was a funny little kid who shows Pasha that he should be the first to contact his parents. In this version, Pasha becomes a "lawyer" for Lyosha's father. Justifying Lyosha's father, Pasha changes and looks at his relationship with his father differently.
