Director Biography - Adam, Nicole Daddona

Magic Society Pictures specialize in surreal and genre film, television, visual art, and live comedy. Made up of Nicole Daddona and Adam Wilder, Magic Society Pictures has developed series with Adult Swim, Amazon Studios, MTV, and Cartoon Network and created short and feature films. They have worked with notable brands like Tito's Vodka and are known for incorporating in-camera special effects and puppetry in their work. They've been featured in PAPER, L.A. Magazine, Forbes, i-D, Buzzfeed, and BUST Magazine. Their award winning short film Sexy Furby, co-produced by Abso Lutely Productions, premiered at Fantasia Festival and Beyond Fest in 2021 and won Grand Prix CANAL+ at L'Etrange Festival in 2021. Their work is inspired by pop art, dream logic, suburbia, and the color science of Las Vegas. They are currently working on their third feature film which begins production in early 2022.

Director Statement

From the surreal and colorful minds of Magic Society Pictures, we present to you Sexy Furby, a short film about loneliness, greed, and finding love in unusual places (and faces). Filmed in the countryside of Connecticut, Sexy Furby is a visual snack that will leave you craving more. When Lisa's father dies, she finds herself alone in the world with nothing left to cling to. After deciding to end it all, her plans are disrupted by a mysterious creature in the forest - a man-sized Furby. He's willing to give quite literally his left arm to her in order to make her life better, plus whatever else she wishes. This twisted take on Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree is an off beat and fanciful sci-fi dark romance that will keep you on your toes throughout.
