Sexed
Other beings have travelled to our planet to experience life as humans. They enter our world through a sophisticated system which exits through a simple elevator in an clinical foyer. Their induction is by means of an instruction manual and a holographic information officer who assists with demonstrations associated with the workings of the body they have inhabited.
A new arrival appears as a woman and while she is at first is pleased with her allocated form, she quickly feels buyers remorse on learning more about what the female experience entails.
Being resourceful, as woman are, she looks for a means to improve the situation and realises that there has been an clerical error which has resulted in the assignment of the incorrect human version. The extra-terrestrial swiftly has this mistake corrected and starts the process over. Once again, they emerge from the elevator but this time as a male of the human species. With no obvious unfavourable characteristics this model is far more acceptable to the alien. It appears that the earth experience is going to be a whole lot better as a man.
-------------- What the film is really about:
This short film highlights the physical inequality of female’s vs males through light-hearted comedy. Taking a unique perspective of a gender-neutral alien that is first assigned a female then male physical form, the question of an intelligent decision around physical attributes bestowed to the different sexes is raised. Further to this, the resultant inequality in opportunities based on the physical form is also contemplated.

Not quite the typical student, I have come a little late to the study of film but view this as a privilege and have discovered a passion for this art form. 'Sexed' is my first film and I'm looking forward to this new career direction for my 'second half'.
As a woman, wife and mother, I have had the full life experience of being female and was interested in exploring the physical differences in the male vs female form and asking questions around what this means in existence as a woman or man.
I was born and raised in South Africa, a vibrant and diverse country found on the most Southern part of the African continent. Being naturally philanthropic and entrepreneurial I Initiated a streaming platform intended to offer support to those in the film industry adversely affected by Covid Lockdown in 2020. SUPP. Film hosts over 200 short films and provides a free platform for filmmakers to both showcase their work and earn revenue with each view.
My objective with this film is to present a woman’s perspective on the experiences of inhabiting a female physical body. This is not to whine over having drawn what is obviously the short straw, or deride men in any way but to merely comment on the situation.
I anticipate that this film will be well received by females who will relate to much of what is presented. The male audience may be uncomfortable and possibly affronted, but the objective is not to insult or disrespect men and should they persevere with an open mind they may come to form a new appreciation of the female perspective.
