Raffi Iskandar is a director and writer who has long been active in the world of short films. He is currently pursuing his education at Padjadjaran University, majoring in Television and Film. Since high school, Raffi has produced several short films that have been recognized in various short film competitions, including Paradox, which won first place in a national-level competition.
In 2022, Raffi released a short film titled Short on Cash, which received a warm welcome from the public and film communities, gaining recognition at several short film festivals. The film's unique concept, which revolved around a 2,000 rupiah bill, successfully captured the audience’s attention.
Through his works, Raffi often highlights social issues and everyday stories, blending humor with critical commentary. In 2023, he collaborated with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to produce a short public service film themed around elections, further strengthening his commitment to creating meaningful and socially impactful content.
Raffi continues to actively work in the film industry, both as a director and in other production roles. He dreams of one day bringing his feature film to the big screen and contributing even more to the growth of Indonesian cinema.
Longing can be healed in many ways, and one of them is by returning to one's roots. Hamzah, feeling the absence of his parents, decides to visit Belitung. Although his parents are originally from Belitung, Hamzah knows very little about the place—its culture, its people—so his trip has no clear purpose. He’s unsure what to expect or what to do, feeling lost in a town that is both familiar and foreign at the same time.
Through Hamzah’s confusion and misunderstandings, I want to introduce the landscape and culture of Bedulang—a traditional practice in Belitung. His lack of knowledge becomes an opportunity for the audience to experience the culture alongside him, to feel his disorientation, and to learn about this tradition through his eyes.
As Hamzah gradually learns about Bedulang, with Rosmah's help guiding him, he begins to reconnect with Belitung—and in turn, with his parents. The more he understands the ritual, the more he feels at home, bridging the gap between past and present.
