Director's Statement : "Seragu" explores the intricate tapestry of desire, ambition, and the human spirit amidst the delicate threads of life. It delves into the poignant story of Shankaravva, a skilled weaver whose life revolves around fulfilling the dreams of others through her craft. Yet, as she embarks on her own journey of motherhood, an unexpected longing for the exquisite Ilkal silk saree which she weaves awakens within her. This internal conflict, leads to clash between her financial constraints and the emergence of personal desires, which forms the heart of the film.
"Seragu" aims to capture the complexities of womanhood – the sacrifices, the resilience, and the unwavering spirit to chase one's own dreams despite the looming shadows of poverty and uncertainty.Through Shankaravva's journey, we aim to celebrate the enduring power of human spirit and the inherent beauty of craftsmanship. "Seragu" is a visual ode to the weavers, their artistry, and the intricate threads that weave the fabric of their lives yet also depicting their pitiful realities.
