Born and raised in Oklahoma, Mason McDonald discovered a love for film very early in his life by way of Stephen Spielberg's work. Upon entering high school, he knew he wanted to make movies; to be a director. He split the cost of his first camera with his father and went on to make numerous student projects. After high school he went to Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) where he majored in film and video production. During his years at OCCC he participated in many projects, which helped fulfill his desire to direct. But, along the way he discovered another love - writing. He has since went on to write and direct 6 short films, and always has a script in the works. With every film he makes he takes a broad look at his previous work and asks himself "How could I do better?" He is constantly striving to learn from his mistakes and make each new project more polished than the last.
Mason McDonald draws inspiration from many well-known directors including:
David Fincher, Milos Forman, Danny Boyle, Alejandro Iñárritu, John Carpenter, The Coen Brothers, Darren Aronofsky, and Martin Scorsese
