A day in Sengulam
In 1988, on their return from Calcutta, two of Mother Teresa’s disciples founded a « Mercy Home » in Sengulam, India. Today, this hamlet still shelters many rejected people from the area : orphans, repudiated wives, beggars, disabled and poor people of all origins… In the heart of this community, they all hope for a more peaceful life. One day at a time.

Matthieu Maunier-Rossi is a screenwriter and director. Geography and travels are at the core of all his projects. From 2014 to 2017, he wandered across the Caribbean, looking for new stories. His journey became a book (« Les îles buissonnières », Ed. Rudbeckias, 2018). After more than one year spent in Haiti working with NGOs, he went back to the island during the summer of 2018 to direct a new film called « Three blades ». That movie is currently playing in festivals around the world.
"A day in Sengulam" is a new documentary shot in Kerala (India). This film presents an alternate edit of the original footage made for the documentary « Lettre à une absente », directed by Véronique Vertadier.
