See without seeing
Clayton LO Keng Chi, now 40, has suffered from an undiagnosed condition for 20 years. He is highly sensitive to light and noise, but tries his best to cope with the accompanying daily pain and discomfort.
“See without seeing” documents LO’s trip to St. Louis in the United States (US). Accompanied by his mother, he is determined to try alternative treatments that may alleviate his condition, even if it means traveling to the other side of the globe.
The film is 40 minutes long. As all the scenes are captured using 360° camera, viewers can place themselves right next to LO as the events unfold in the US, sharing his experience in his search for treatment for his condition and the difficulties he faces along the way.
In the 360° video, viewers can look up and down and even turn around, as if they were there, inside the scene. This level of immersion faithfully recreates the raw atmosphere and emotions – helplessness, anxiety and doubt – that the documented subjects experience. But like any other film, the viewer is but a spectator to the events, powerless and unable to help or change anything.
“See without seeing” is about Clayton LO, and the story of his trip to US in search of treatment for a rare medical condition. This is his story, as it happened, a story that is not told, but experienced.
