Richard Duryea first became interested in films after his dad showed him Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. He was instantly hooked on the classic science fiction genre and wanted to create his own. When he saved up enough money to buy his first camera, he began to create his own movies, with his siblings and friends, in Spokane Washington. Early on, Richard knew that he wanted to work in the camera department. Upon arriving at CSUN, Richard immediately began making connections and creating short films. With a double major in Cinematography and Creative writing, Richard Graduated in 2012. Today, he works freelance as a camera op. His impressive work includes shooting for Robert Townsend, lighting with ASC member Dean Cundy, assisting on the Mole Richardson stage and light for Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance.
Hello,
This little project was done for the CWVFF 48 hour film festival. My goal is to make entertaining films with a positive message. I'm well versed in many aspects of production including acting, camera, lighting and so on. This background gives me the ability to speak to just about anyone on set and know realistically how it would take for a particular set up. I don't waste anyone's time with unnecessary shots, or demand equipment that I don't know if I'm going to use or not. I'm used to working on tight budgets and I know where to spend funds where they need to be.
If I'm selected then we're all in for a good time to make something really special.
