Hello there!
I’m Seán Leahy (the dude in the picture), and I’m an Irish filmmaker. For the past couple of years, I’ve been passionately creating films, with my pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Film and Screen Media at University College Cork best showcasing this commitment.
During my time at UCC, I’ve been researching and analysing film in both academic and technological understandings, with myself having spearheaded several projects such as my first-year short film An Unnerving Realisation, which premiered as part of the UCC BA Showcase at the 2023 Fastnet Film Festival, in addition to being screened as part of the Artist Film Programme at the 2024 IndieCork Film Festival.
My involvement in the industry extends beyond this, as I’m currently a Student Academy Member of the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA).
Building on this, my second-year short documentary The Marina also gained recognition, earning a nomination for the ‘Best Student Work’ award at The Peoples Picturehouse Cork’s 2024 Pictures of the Year awards ceremony.
In addition to film, I’ve been busy exploring the realm of English as my minor at UCC, which has enriched my storytelling abilities by allowing me to develop my scripts to a heightened level. On top of this I was also awarded the ‘UCC Quercus College Scholarship’ in 2024 for achieving the highest grades in my year.
