Later on, he found himself unable to find work opportunities in the cinema industry while working as a full-time video editor. Eventually deciding to direct his first short documentary "Scenes from Sale". Imrane hopes that he can make more films in the future, wether fiction or documentary, with a realist and raw vision of Morocco and Moroccans.
Imrane has also worked on several other documentaries and short films as a film editor, a colorist, and a field sound mixer.
Imrane has written and directed a short film titled "Laila" and a pilot for a TV show "You lie, You win", both of which were student projects that were never released. Scenes from Sale is as simple as it's title, a raw tour in the marginilized city of Sale, Morocco, guided by a group of young filmmakers who provoke several first time interactions and deep conversations with the people of the city, filmed on the spot.
It has long been a dream project for me. Everywhere I go, I get social interations with people I've never met, evoking their personal life, experiences, opinions, which I always found fascinating and worth filming.
Scenes from Sale is a first attempt at exposing a raw image of the city of Sale, its people, and their stories.
