SCAR
"Scar" is a gripping narrative inspired by real events of a hate crime. The Dhillon family, originally from India, fled their homeland after falling victim to the anti-Sikh violence that erupted following Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination. In search of a new beginning, they moved to the USA, where Amandeep Singh Dhillon served honorably in the U.S. Army, earning the Medal of Honor for his bravery in Afghanistan.
However, their hopes for safety and acceptance were shattered after the 9/11 attacks. Due to their physical resemblance to Arabs, who were associated with the tragic events, the Dhillon family became targets of hate crimes. The situation escalated when Mr. Dhillon's son was harassed and ultimately killed by white assailants and members of the Russian mafia. Despite seeking justice, Mr. Dhillon was unjustly treated as a suspect by the local police, leaving him feeling abandoned and desperate.
With no support from the authorities, Mr. Dhillon took matters into his own hands, determined to find those responsible for his son's death. "Scar" is a poignant and powerful story that sheds light on the rise of hate crimes in the United States in the 21st century, exploring the deep scars left by prejudice and violence.
