Dear World,
I’m Cameron Guest, a filmmaker from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Proudly HBCU-educated and a Bowie State Bulldog, my love for film ignited during college, where I was introduced to a diverse range of cinematic styles and directors. I immersed myself in the works of Tarantino, Spike Lee, Coppola, Scorsese, and Ridley Scott, among others.
My journey into filmmaking didn't begin until my thirties. Initially, it was sparked by a serendipitous purchase of a 35mm camera at a Goodwill grand opening. The exploration of photography—understanding angles, framing, and shot types—offered me a fresh perspective on film. This new lens was further enriched during my first year of teaching English, where I was assigned to teach Drama. Although I wasn’t a “drama kid” nor had a formal background in it, I embraced the challenge and discovered a deep passion for it.
My dual interests in photography and drama converged, leading me to write and direct films. By studying film, diving into books, watching documentaries, and collaborating with others in the film community—often through YouTube—I’ve been able to develop my craft.
As I continue on this cinematic journey, my aim is to create films that explore both the world and my own identity, delivering authentic and engaging stories. I’m committed to bringing my vision to life and hope that you not only understand but also enjoy the films I create.
Much love,
Cameron Guest
