Sasha Duncan is a storyteller. She is a writer, director, and editor with a background in producing, as well as an essayist and fortune-teller. Her approach to story is thoughtful, creative and savvy. In filmmaking there is no budget too small or idea too big for her to tackle -- there is always a way to tell the story you’re meant to.
Her most recent work includes the 18-episode webseries #ThisIsAna, currently available to stream online, and the debut music video, “Lift a Finger” for Vancouver-based artist Tissa Rahim. She is also the producer and story editor of the award-winning short “Multiverse Dating for Beginners”, which was selected as Best of Shorts at the Oscar-qualifying CINEQUEST Film Festival and is a Best Short winner at multiple festivals.
She has produced, story-edited and written several other projects, including the STORYHIVE-funded web-series “The New Romantics” and 2015 Cannes Shorts Corner select “To the Sky”. Each project has a unique vision and voice behind it; Sasha believes in and is dedicated to uplifting diverse creators and telling stories otherwise left untold. These values are reflected in her own work and at her former employer, Kickstart Entertainment, for whom produced several animated series, including the Daytime Emmy-award-winning “Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force” and PBS hit “Ready Jet Go!”
Sasha is a graduate of Vancouver Film School’s “Writing for Film & Television” program and holds a B.A. in Sociology from UBC. She currently resides in Vancouver, BC where she spends her time telling as many compelling stories as she’s able over multiple mediums. She can think of no better way to live her life.
