Rules and regulations
1. The 4th edition of Saraqusta Film Festival will be held from April 26th to May 3rd 2024 in Zaragoza.
2. Submissions are open to Spanish and International works that deal with the historical genre or whose theme, context or set design are historical or refer to a period of the past.
3. Works submitted to competitive sections may not have a production date prior to September 1st 2022. In addition, special preference will be given to those works that have not been commercially released in Spanish territory in theaters, television or VOD platforms before their screening at the festival.
4. Participants may submit as many works as they wish.
Participation
5. The following sections are established:
FEATURE FILMS OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section for Spanish and International feature films, real-image or animated, about historical genre or historical subjects, with no less than 60 minutes long and produced after September 1st 2022.
DOCUMENTARY OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section for Spanish and International documentaries, real-image or animated, about historical genre or historical subjects, with no less than 45 minutes long and produced after September 1st 2022.
PANORAMA SARAQUSTA
Non-competitive exhibition for Spanish and International tv series and audiovisual works of diverse format and duration, that have an outstanding relevance due to their historical content.
6. Spanish works will be presented in their original language. If the original version is not Spanish, they must be subtitled in Spanish.
7. International works will be presented in their original language. If the original version is not Spanish, they must be subtitled in Spanish or English.
Submission
8. Submission deadline is February 16th 2024. No entry will be accepted before that date.
9. Online submission will be available through the FilmFreeway platform, where participants must upload the film and fill the required information. The organization may also invite works to be evaluated by the selection committee.
10. Participation in Saraqusta Film Festival is free of charge.
Selection
11. The selection committee will be conformed by professionals belonging to the audiovisual, cultural and History study sector.
12. If the work is selected, submitters will be notified and informed about the instructions and schedule for sending the screening copy and promotional materials.
13. By accepting to participate in the Saraqusta Film Festival, the organization assumes that the authors/producers have the corresponding exhibition rights and give their permission for the use of promotional images as well as for the public screening at the festival.
14. Works that are not submitted within the stipulated deadline or that do not offer the minimum technical requirements for the festival will be automatically excluded.
15. All selected works will receive a Saraqusta Film Festival laurel, which they may voluntarily include in their work and promotional materials.
16. The organization will contact authors/producers to offer them the possibility of attending the festival to present and promote the selected works.
Jury and Awards
17. The Jury will be unique for all sections and will be formed by outstanding personalities from the audiovisual and cultural world and the study of History.
18. No member of the Jury may participate, directly or indirectly, in any of the selected productions.
19. The Jury will choose and decide the winners of each category and their decision will be unappealable.
20. The official categories and awards will be as follows:
OFFICIAL SECTIONS SARAQUSTA FILM FESTIVAL
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Feature Film: 6000 €
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Documentar: 6000 €
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Director: 1000 €
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Screenplay: 1000 €
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Actress: 1000 €
• Dragón Saraqusta for Best Actor: 1000 €
• Young Jury Award: 1000 €
21. There will also be a special Honorary Award to be announced prior to the beginning of the festival.
22. The winners of financial awards must issue an invoice or receipt and pay the corresponding taxes. In order to receive the prize, a representative of the production must attend the closing gala of the festival.
23. The Awards ceremony will be held on May 3rd at the closing ceremony of the festival. The winners will be announced that morning during the official press conference of the festival
24. All winners will receive laurels of the Saraqusta Film Festival.
Final clause
25. Participation implies full acceptance of these rules. For any doubt or clarification, please contact the organization.

Bases generales
1. La 4ª edición del Saraqusta Film Festival se llevará a cabo del 26 de Abril al 3 de Mayo de 2024 en la ciudad de Zaragoza.
2. La participación está abierta a obras audiovisuales españolas e internacionales que aborden el género histórico o cuya temática, contexto o ambientación sean históricos o referidos a una época del pasado.
3. Las obras audiovisuales presentadas a las secciones oficiales no podrán tener una fecha de realización anterior al 1 de septiembre de 2022. Además, tendrán especial preferencia aquellas obras que no hayan sido estrenadas en territorio español de manera comercial en salas de exhibición, televisión o plataformas VOD antes de su proyección en el festival.
4. Cada participante podrá inscribir el número de obras audiovisuales que desee.
Participación
5. Se establecen las siguientes secciones:
SECCIÓN OFICIAL LARGOMETRAJES
Sección competitiva para largometrajes de ficción, de imagen real o animación, de producción española o internacional, de género y/o temática histórica y con una duración mínima de 60 minutos.
SECCIÓN OFICIAL DOCUMENTALES
Sección competitiva para documentales de imagen real o animación, de producción española o internacional, de género y/o temática histórica y con una duración mínima de 45 minutos.
PANORAMA SARAQUSTA
Muestra no competitiva para series y obras audiovisuales de diverso formato y duración, de producción española o internacional y que tengan una relevancia destacada por su contenido histórico.
6. Todas las obras españolas inscritas en cualquiera de las secciones deberán estar obligatoriamente subtituladas en castellano si este no es su idioma original.
7. Todas las obras internacionales inscritas en cualquiera de las secciones deberán estar obligatoriamente subtituladas en castellano si este no es su idioma original o en su defecto en inglés.
Inscripciones
8. La fecha límite para realizar la inscripción de obras es el 16 de Febrero de 2024. A partir de esa fecha no se aceptarán solicitudes de participación bajo ninguna circunstancia.
9. La inscripción al festival se podrá realizar de manera online a través de la plataforma FilmFreeway, donde el participante deberá hacerse una cuenta y subir la obra para su visionado, además de adjuntar elementos promocionales y cumplimentar información sobre la producción. La dirección del festival podrá realizar invitaciones o obras para su participación para ser valoradas por los comités de selección.
10. La inscripción en el Saraqusta Film Festival es gratuita.
Selección
11. El equipo que realizará la selección de obras para el certamen estará formado por un equipo designado por el Saraqusta Film Festival, todos ellos pertenecientes al sector audiovisual, cultural y el estudio de la Historia.
12. En caso de que la obra sea seleccionada, se notificará a los responsables de la misma y se les informará sobre las instrucciones y calendario para el envío de la copia de proyección y los materiales promocionales.
13. Al aceptar su participación en el Saraqusta Film Festival, la organización asume que los responsables de la obra tienen los correspondientes derechos de exhibición y dan su permiso para el uso de imágenes promocionales así como para la proyección pública de la obra en el marco del festival.
14. Las obras que no se envíen dentro del plazo estipulado o que no cumplan los requisitos técnicos mínimos para la realización del festival, quedarán automáticamente excluidas.
15. Todos los seleccionados recibirán un laurel del Saraqusta Film Festival que podrán incluir voluntariamente en su obra y en sus materiales promocionales.
16. La organización del festival se pondrá en contacto con los responsables de las producciones para ofertarles la posibilidad de asistir al festival para presentar y promocionar las obras seleccionadas.
Jurado y Premios
17. El Jurado será único para todas las secciones y estará formado por personalidades destacadas del mundo audiovisual, cultural y el estudio de la Historia.
18. Ningún miembro del jurado podrá participar, de manera directa o indirecta, en ninguna de las producciones seleccionadas.
19. Los miembros del Jurado escogerán y decidirán los ganadores de cada categoría y su decisión será inapelable.
20. Las categorías y premios oficiales serán los siguientes:

• Dragón Saraqusta al Mejor Largometraje dotado con 6.000 euros
• Dragón Saraqusta al Mejor Documental dotado con 6.000 euros
• Dragón Saraqusta a la Mejor Dirección dotado con 1.000 euros
• Dragón Saraqusta al Mejor Guion dotado con 1.000 euros
• Dragón Saraqusta a la Mejor Actriz dotado con 1.000 euros
• Dragón Saraqusta al Mejor Actor dotado con 1.000 euros
• Premio del Jurado Joven dotado con 1.000 euros
21. Se establece además un Premio Especial Honorífico que se anunciará previamente al inicio del festival.
22. Los premios económicos tienen el IVA ya incluido y los ganadores deberán expedir una factura o recibo para la recepción de los mismos.
23. Para que el cobro del premio sea efectivo, será indispensable que algún representante de la producción acuda a la gala de clausura del festival.
24. La gala de entrega de premios se realizará de manera pública el 3 de Mayo en la clausura del festival. La lista de premiados se hará pública esa misma mañana durante la rueda de prensa oficial del festival.
25. Todos los ganadores recibirán laureles del Saraqusta Film Festival.
Cláusula final
26. La inscripción en el festival implica la aceptación total de estas bases. Para cualquier duda o aclaración, contactar directamente con la organización de Saraqusta Film Festival.
