Sarah Kutchinski is a Michigan based Writer & Director dedicated to telling insightful stories that surprise and entertain. She has worked professionally as a Producer & Editor for over 2 years, and outside of Writing and Directing, she also has served in many film positions - AD, Grip, Production Designer, H&MU, AC, and more. She is thankful for all of these experiences as they have made her a stronger filmmaker, and a more capable Director who can communicate her vision clearly to all crew & cast members. What Sarah cares most about is bringing heart to every story she writes, and equally bringing that same heart and passion to every project she has the privilege to work on.
In 2018, her short film, Violation, was a finalist in the Girl’s Impact the World International Film Festival. Her screenplay, “Williams & Proctor”, won the 2020 Laurence Allen Tate Film Writing Award. In her time at MSU, Sarah was the recipient of various awards: from the 2020 Glenn and Thelma Buell College of Communication Arts & Sciences Endowed Memorial Scholarship, to the 2021 Michael A. Chaprkna Endowed Scholarship, to the 2022 Louis B. Sudler Prize for the Arts. Most recently, her short film 'The Open House' - which, from concept to execution, was made in 2 weeks - won 2nd place at the 2025 CCFF Fortnight Film Contest.
