Samosa

The story revolves around the major idea of how dowry is
still prominent in some parts of the country and this is a
sarcastic take on the same.
The plot opens up with two families sitting in a cluttered
room where the boy’s family had come to visit the girl’s
family with respect to an arranged marriage. The boy is
hyper, restless and wry while the girl is calm and composed
and looks as she was forced to do so. On the other hand, the
boy’s family is clearly dominating over the girl’s family
depicting clearly the idea of ’ladkewale’ and ’ladkiwale.’
As the conversation grows to finalizing the relations and
dates for the wedding, the boy’s family starts to show their
true color as they start demanding things one after the
other. The girl’s family is clearly disturbed but accepts
everything that was being demanded. As the families discuss
all of this, the strange energy continues to grow between
the boy and the girl which is very prominent.
In a very loopy and funny fashion, the boy’s family demands
almost everything from the opposite party saying that it was
all for the girl and the girl’s family seems helpless and
accepts it all. When everything was done, to break the hard
ice, girl’s mother brings in samosa saying that they were
made by the girl and are delicious. To which the girl is
then forced to request the guest to taste and tell how she
cooked them. The girl who remains silent in the whole plot
says only one line and steals the whole energy.
"Lijiye na, AAPNE TO KUCH LIYA HI NAHI"
Everyone senses the energy. It goes into silence for few
seconds and then everyone picks a samosa each. The plot ends
with the guests stuffing the samosas in their mouth just
like they stuffed everything that there was to stuff in that
house.
