Films must have been completed after January 2014 to be eligible
☛ Films must be no longer than 30 minutes, including credits.
☛ Only school students will qualify for the Student Category and a copy of an official student ID or a letter from the school must be sent with the entry submission to be eligible. Non students entering their film to the Student category will result in immediate disqualification.
☛ For Special Category (Woman Filmmakers) entry, either the Director must be a woman or the film must have a strong female subject / lead. Male film makers entering their film to the Special Category will result in immediate disqualification.
☛ If selected, a press kit including posters, director's biography and film synopsis is recommended, but not required.
☛ Selected films will be showcased on our YouTube channel to promote film makers submitting to the Salem Short Film Festival. Filmmakers can choose to opt out of having their films shown. Unless requested otherwise, filmmakers grant Salem Short Film Festival the right to showcase their films as mentioned.
☛ Films selected for screening at the
festival will be announced in advance, along with the program schedule, for filmmaker's convenience.
☛ Submission to Salem Short Film Festival does not guarantee screening.
☛ Submissions can be made online via www.filmfreeway.com, through dropbox, via online streaming websites such as youtube or vimeo or a DVD/BluRay can be mailed to us.
☛ DVD submissions must be clearly labeled with the film title, submission category, and run time.
☛ If selected, films must be available in an offline format (Pendrive, or digital file).
☛ Applicant can submit more than one entry to the festival. Each submission requires an entry fee. Films accepted to the 2016 festival will not be accepted this year.
☛ Entry fees are non-refundable.
☛ Films Submitted will not receive screening fees for showcasing films
☛ For entries not in English or Tamil, subtitles are required.
☛ Entrants are responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses, royalties, release forms, clearances, permits necessary to present their work. Salem Short Film Festival is not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work.
☛ By submitting to Salem Short Film Festival, you confirm that you hold the rights to (or are authorized to use) any and all audio and video in your short film. Salem Short Film Festival will not be held responsible for any claims stemming from the failure of the creator/submitter to properly obtain the rights to material submit and/or screened.
☛ All Decisions made by Salem Short Film Festival are final.

☛ By submitting your film, you agree to grant the Salem Short Film Festival 2016 all rights necessary to exhibit and promote the above-referenced film at the 2016 Festival. You represent that such exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights whatsoever (including copyright, trademark, musical or contract right) of any person or entity. You further represent that You are authorized to submit the above-referenced film and, if selected, will deliver the screening print to the Festival office no later than May 10, 2016. Additionally, You indemnify the Festival from any and all claims, demands, losses, costs, damages, and attorney's fee arising out of or in connection with third parties in regards to the screening of said film.
