Bwayisak Maiyaki Tanko is a passionate and emerging filmmaker dedicated to telling powerful stories that inspire connection and understanding. As the producer and director of the documentary "Accents and Acceptance," she highlights the experiences of international students, exploring themes of cultural identity, communication, and belonging.
With a growing body of work in documentary filmmaking, Bwayisak's talent lies in crafting narratives that resonate deeply with diverse audiences. Alongside other productions exploring societal and cultural dynamics.
Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication at the University of Illinois Springfield, Bwayisak is honing her storytelling, media production, and project management craft. She also earned certifications in Documentary Filmmaking and Screenwriting from the Sundance Institute Collab, solidifying her filmmaking expertise with creative vision and technical skills.
Bwayisak is driven by a commitment to producing films that spark meaningful conversations and amplify underrepresented voices. When she’s not working on her next project, she enjoys writing, photography, exploring nature, and finding inspiration in the world around her.
