"Sahasra" is a journey into the depths of human ambition, the power of science, and the haunting shadows of unresolved pasts. As a filmmaker, my vision for this story was to explore the interplay between intellect and emotion—how the pursuit of innovation is often deeply personal and rooted in experiences that shape who we are.
The protagonist, Sahasra, is not just a scientist but a woman driven by a burning need to rewrite her history. Her journey to invent a time travel device is a metaphor for our universal longing to alter the past, confront our regrets, and find closure. I wanted to create a character who is brilliant yet vulnerable, navigating the fine line between scientific rigor and emotional turmoil.
"Sahasra" blends the speculative allure of science fiction with the raw, emotional core of a human story. Through this film, I aimed to spark a conversation about how our pasts define us, the lengths we go to in pursuit of redemption, and the ethical dilemmas of altering the very fabric of time.
Visually, I chose a grounded aesthetic to contrast the fantastical concept of time travel, grounding the audience in Sahasra’s reality while inviting them to dream of what lies beyond. The film’s tone oscillates between moments of suspense and quiet introspection, reflecting the duality of Sahasra's inner and outer worlds.
As a filmmaker, I am drawn to stories that challenge the boundaries of genre and storytelling. "Sahasra" is my attempt to merge science fiction with an intimate, character-driven narrative. My hope is that the audience will leave not only captivated by the possibilities of time but also reflecting on their own relationships with their past, their choices, and the human need for reconciliation.
