Daniel Ståhl was born November 5th 1988 in Älmhult, Sweden. Between 2016 and 2018 he attended Katrineberg Community College's Film School. Daniel tends to write stories about human relations - often combined with sociological and/or political undertones.
The premise of "Safe Harbor" had been in the back of my mind for several years but I never put it down on paper because I felt something was missing from the story. After experiencing a minor health scare a couple of years ago I started to read a lot about dealing with trauma, which in turn made me rediscover "Safe Harbor" - a story that deals with trauma of a different kind. So, in a sort of pseudotherapeutic way, I was able to find the pieces that I felt was was missing from the story by incorporating some of my own recent experiences into it.
Although "Safe Harbor" deals with a mother and daughter coming to terms with their troubled past, I hope that the ones watching the film will find themselves - like myself when writing it - touched not only by Sara and Monika's journey, but perhaps also by something that they have struggled with personally, whatever it may be. Like Sara says in the film : "You have to try to live with what has been. Not forget it". I believe we can all relate to that.
