Sad Hope
"Sad Hope" is a dance film which focuses on the inner world we live in as humans, and our connection to love, anxiety and how we relate to one another. It explores how we are dealing with our emotions in a world that is conditioning us to numb our feelings. To make this story, Mozaik Dance uses popping as the common thread, but adds contemporary and other street style influences.

MOZAIK DANCE / Manon Bal, J9, and Sun Kim
Formed in 2018, Mozaik dance is a collaboration created by Manon Bal, J9, and Sun Kim. Together, they aim to explore popping in an experimental format, informed by their diverse dance backgrounds. Mozaik Dance uses popping, house, contemporary, and hip-hop as way to innovate and speak about the human condition.
Individually, Sun Kim hails from Korea and has won Step Ya Game Up and Book of Styles in the style of popping; she has also danced for Madonna, Sir Elton John, Cirque du Soleil and more. Manon Bal comes from France, studied at The Ailey School and dances with Ephrat Asherie Dance as a principal dancer. J9 has immersed herself in both the underground and commercial scenery of New York City; she fuses street styles together and has danced for Madonna, 070 Shake and Spotify.
