Sacred Rage: the Hellbent Vision of Richard Williams
A spooky and fun documentary about an unknown Cape Cod artist.
This film follows artist Richard "Greenthorn" Williams during his relentless daily creation of bizarre images, using handmade costumes, masks, photos, paintings, and collages. Documenting Rick's work for 10 years in the haunted forests and swamps of Cape Cod, we hear his poetic struggle to find meaning in life while coping with multiple suicides of his closest friends.
Rick strives against alienation and despair by obsessively exorcizing his demons and phantoms. He photographs himself and gothic models reciting his existential poetry in the forest, railing against conventional society, "vacationers", and the evil forces of humanity trying to tame nature.
His incredible collection of decades of art in various mediums has been seen by virtually no one. Witnessing his dedication to this captivating, massive body of work provides rare insight into the true inner workings of a hypersensitive artist. Rick's unusual worldview offers moments of surprising inspiration, countering the horror and depression of the modern world, with his exceptional life full of humor, constant creativity, and endless fascination.

Art is life. Surviving this dark world is a challenging task. Making art allows us to experience relief, find like-minded community, and resist devolving into idiotic robots.
