Saadat Sataeva is a 22-year-old queer feminist filmmaker from Kyrgyzstan. Her work explores themes of memory, identity, and resistance through a poetic and intimate lens. Saadat’s debut short fiction film My Love Lives on the Field tells the story of a former female football player reflecting on her love for the game and the girls around her. The film won the Special Jury Award at the Bir Duino Human Rights Film Festival and was featured at the UMUT Forum for emerging Central Asian filmmakers. Deeply rooted in her personal and political experience as a lesbian artist from a post-Soviet context, Saadat’s films center queer lives often silenced in mainstream narratives.
