Director Statement

Sa Labas is a gripping narrative conceived from the challenges I encountered in the middle of the pandemic. It is an accumulation of contained emotions — emptiness and discomfort — all of the things weighing deeply during that difficult time. The entire film is set inside a bunker to symbolize the darkness and isolation. Although the film plays on several key tones, one stands out – fear. It revolves around the unknown; of walking in between a wave of doubt; and of the uncertainty of when the whirlwind of a chaos will find its supposed end.
