A 3-day film festival taking place at Riverside Theatres Parramatta in April 2023. The inaugural SWANA Film Festival will platform contemporary films that centre the stories of women and gender diverse South West Asian and North African filmmakers as well as an emphasis on local and diaspora content.
The SWANA Film Festival is the revitalisation of the Arab Film Festival Australia (AFFA), a community-led event supported by ACE from 2001 to 2018.
AFFA paused operation in 2018, reviewing future opportunities including its evolution to become a more inclusive festival showcasing stories from SWANA communities.
