Susan(Sofia) Rafizadeh is a visual artist working with video installation, experimental storytelling, and spatial narratives. She holds a degree in Political Science From Tehran, a background that informs her exploration of themes such as identity , memory , and transformation. She later studied painting under A. Antonopoulos at the Athens School of Fine Arts, and specialized in video art with V. Betsou, developing strong interest in time-based media and immersive audiovisual experiences.
Along side this, she studied photography, with Nikos Economopoulos (Magnum Photos), and Panos Kokkinias, refining her visual language and and approach to composition. By merging elements of cinema , photography, and painting, she creates works that challenge conventional storytelling structures and engage viewer in a dialogue between image, space , and time.
Her work delves into themes of identity, memory, and transformation, often drawing inspiration from poetry and literature.
Through a multidisciplinary practice , she creates immersive audiovisual experiences that challenge traditional storytelling structure.
Her latest video project, Tavalodi Digar ( Another Birth) is a multi-channel video installation inspired by the poetry of Forough Farrokhzaad (Iranian poet & film maker). Using poetic imagery and abstract landscapes , she created immersive audiovisual experiences that question the boundaries between self and environment.
