SPLIT
An uprooted tree, viewed as a metaphor for the current state of the Natural Kingdom, is being turned inside out by generating multi-perspectives, color shifting and stretching speed-time-space. The uprootedness is being healed by a slow soothing camera movement, as if transcending its distorted form.
Guided by cryptic voice-like signals, as if transmitted by a remote radio station, one can imagine the tree trying ot communicate or, in reverse movement, are the 'voices' the way the tree perceives the echoed human language? An exchange of perspective?

Alda Snopek studied film - and audiovisual arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Ghent (KASK). She creates a unique method of transformative abstraction in video art by animating and digitally manipulating photographic images. Details of topographic, macroscopic and aireal viewings are transformed into hybrid matter-scapes in which human-, animal-, earth-, cosmic -like and abstract elements emerge and converge.
These slowly morphing, shrinking and expanding organisms, can be interpreted as an attempt to map the interconnectivity of life-forms, their transformative forces and their constant exchange of substance, information and energy
