Orlando Mendes, a seasoned Brazilian producer based in Boston, boasts a rich tapestry of experience woven throughout his illustrious career. With a journey spanning over two decades, Orlando's trajectory in the audiovisual realm is nothing short of remarkable.
His odyssey commenced in 1996 as a TV host and editor on the renowned TV show "Planeta Virtual" at TV Educativa. Fuelled by a passion for animation, Orlando embarked on a quest to master his craft, eventually finding himself immersed in the vibrant world of "Academia de Animação" in São Paulo under the mentorship of Marcelo de Moura.
Eager to expand his repertoire, Orlando further honed his skills by studying Executive Production at AIC - Academia Internacional de Cinema. Equipped with newfound knowledge and expertise, he ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own production company. Specializing in promotional films, TV spots, and cutting-edge 2D/3D animations, AI productions, Orlando quickly garnered acclaim, attracting major corporations as clients and collaborators.
In a pivotal moment in 2013, Orlando spearheaded the creation of the beloved children's series "1,2,3 Era Uma Vez!" (1,2,3, Once Upon a Time), comprising 13 captivating episodes of 8 minutes each. The series soared to success, captivating audiences far and wide, with its distribution extending to Europa Films and Encripta.
Undeterred by the magnitude of his achievements, Orlando embarked on yet another groundbreaking venture in 2015— an American streaming platform bridging the gap between Brazilian and American audiences. With an eclectic mix of TV series, movies, and diverse content, Orlando played a pivotal role in introducing Brazilian TV channels, including the esteemed SBT from the Silvio Santos Group, to the American market.
Orlando's contributions to the realm of animation have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his two nominations for the prestigious Gramado Festival for Best Animation. A testament to his unwavering dedication and indomitable spirit, Orlando continues to push the boundaries of creativity, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of audiovisual arts.
