ABOUT THE SPAC

The Semaine Parisienne des Auteurs Chinois (Parisian Week of the Chinese Authors) or SPAC, is a non-profit, non-government organization which develops, promotes and encourages creativity and education in the art and culture of film through the presentation of the annual competition of arthouse films (features and shorts) set in Paris, and the promotion of the films selected and rewarded in Paris, during the Cannes Film Festival.

Apart from organizing the selection and the screening event, the SPAC is also committed to organize regular programmes and activities, such as round tables, conferences and professional films related events to allows the new generation of authors to express their voices and meet with industry professionals, in order to promote the art and creative business of cinema, with an international dimension.

Every selected entries will be eligible for the following awards:

1. FEATURE FILM COMPETITION (60 minutes and over):
Grand prize of the jury
Best direction
Best male performance
Best female performance
Best screenplay
Best photography
Best original music (if concerned)

The decisions will be taken by a prestigious jury of international film professionals.

In addition, the selected films are also eligible to an extra award:
Grand prize of the critics

The decision will be taken by a second jury of recognized journalists and films specialists.

2. SHORT FILM COMPETITION (max length 25 minutes):
Every selected entries are eligible for the following award:

Best Short Film

Officielle selection Certificate will be given to all the film selected.

1. FEATURE FILM COMPETITION (60 minutes and over):
The SPAC Feature film competition, recognizes the best of chinese language arthouse cinema by honoring excellence and superior storytelling in narrative feature films.
In addition of the Parisian screening, the grand prize winner will also be granted a professional « Film Market » screening during the Cannes Film Festival.

Rough cuts or works-in-progress are accepted and reviewed. However, filmmakers are urged to submit as close to the final cut as possible. The Festival will not accept any unfinished versions of an entry by the day of the screening.

France and International « première » are highly appreciated, in order to be considered, entries must not be available on line (even Video on demand), or having been released in Chinese theaters prior to 2 years before the SPAC event.

However, excellent entries that would not fulfilled those conditions might still be considered to be screened out of competition.

2. SHORT FILM COMPETITION (max length 25 minutes):
The SPAC Short Film Competition supports the production and re-invention of art and culture in Chinese language short films. It is also a platform for chinese authors and directors, and french film professionals to exchange visions and ideas.

For every entries to be considered a zone free Blu Ray copy of the film with english or french subtitles is to be privileged.

For the screenings, a DCP with french subtitles is mandatory.

RELEASE AUTHORIZATION
The undersigned, acknowledge and agree as follows:
1) I have read, understood and complied with all eligibility and entry requirements.

2) I am legally authorized to enter this film in SPAC Festival and agree that, if accepted, a film print or copy in preferred format will be made available for screening during the Festival.

3) I hold the SPAC harmless from damage to or loss of the print or entry form en route to and from the Festival.
