Fran St Clair is a London based actor/writer/director with a passion and talent for exploring real human connection and emotion. Fran trained with the Unseen drama school and has since taken on a range of different acting roles in multiple creative projects.
A creative powerhouse, Fran has also developed and realised her own works as a screenwriter and director - bringing her own cinematic visions to life. Her last short film CAKE was screened at multiple film festivals including most recently KIFF AND CYFM. Her next short film SLAY is set to show people how versatile Fran is as she delves into the Horror Comedy genre with a Gen Z twist.
SLAY is a horror comedy that explores female friendships through the lens of hyperrealistic character archetypes whilst still being recognisable in Gen Z culture. You’ll laugh at them, laugh with them, and ask yourself who you should actually be rooting for.
I wanted to create a film that acts as a commentary on social media, cancel culture and jealousy within female friendships.
The film takes inspiration from classics such as Heathers and Mean Girls but is tonally similar to Jawbreaker and most recently Bodies Bodies Bodies.
SLAY is the debut of production house Myrtle Tree Studios and consisted of a predominantly female cast and crew full of passionate young creatives with a gift for storytelling.
