SKUBER
One day Cat London said out loud, “I should make a movie called SKUBER and it should be about a taxi service phone app for kids who miss the bus on their way to school.”
It was always deeply embarrassing to see the bus in the distance, slowly pulling away and accelerating as you bounded up the street, arms flailing about, momentum strained by an awkward backpack. It was even WORSE rushing back home to tell your parent or babysitter to quickly get in the car and drive you to school before homeroom. That’s where a SKUBER would have been a dream solution.
The characters of the boy, Jake, and his driver, Jeff, are good chums. Their hilarious friendship began because Jake often missed the bus and had to call SKUBER to transport him to school. He misses the bus so often we are left to wonder if he does it intentionally, looking forward to the good company of his goofy confidante, Jeff. This silly and heartwarming short reminds us that sometimes it’s okay to slow down and be late once in a while.
Comedic short film, unlike feature length film, conquers the skillful task of making people laugh in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, us humans perpetuate the bad habit of thinking we can't change the world in a short amount of time. Not even in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, or sometimes ever, until it's too late. But we CAN make change, in just 5 minutes, in just 3 minutes, one minute. One second. We all have the power to make an impact in the blink of an eye.

Cat London has entertained many corners of the industry as a singer, writer, musical improv comedian, choreographer, director, podcaster, and film/stage actress. London’s first professional film concept was music video “The Right Way” in 2015 which took home awards at the Garden State Film Festival and Ridgewood Film Festival with screenings at the Westfield Film Festival and Asbury Park Film Festival. Subsequent films she's either produced, written, or directed include the short-but-mighty SKUBER, music video “Cities," her movement piece "People Pleaser" choreographed by Jess Totaro, and her Henry & Martha and At The Gym On My Period TikTok/Instagram series. She performs and tours with her husband Rich Aveo as one half of The Yes Anthem Podcast, as well as Rich Aveo and The Class, Cat & Vegas and the Temple of Boom, and her own original band, Cat London. Her favorite song is 9 Crimes by Damien Rice, her favorite movie is Nightmare Before Christmas, and her favorite broadway musical is Cats and The Last Five Years.
We are the same! And we love that! That is the essence of SKUBER. We are all the same. No matter how big or small, silly or serious.
