My name is Biodun Stephen. I am a professional film director, producer and writer with notable films in my portfolio. I founded Shutterspeed projects; a content production company in 2014 and have since created numerous and globally acclaimed entertaining and inspiring films and series.
Over the past decade, I have created heart-felt human angle stories that draw inspiration from my personal experiences and my environment. My experience in advertising copyrighting and radio has been immensely influential in my careers as a film maker. I am a firm believer of film being a vehicle from entertainment, communication and education.
In my years as a film maker since founding Shutterspeed Projects, I have written, produced and directed film that have earned nominations and awards within Nigeria, Africa and in Diaspora. Notable films in my portfolio include THE VISIT (AMVCA 2015 nomination for best film West Africa), BREADEDLIFE (AMVCA 2021 nomination for best film West Africa) and PICTURE PERFECT. Other films like OVY’S VOICE, EHIS BITTERS and LOOKING FOR BAAMI were No 1. On Iroko Viewer’s choice awards in 2017,2018 and 2019 respectively. I also won the AMVCA award for best screen play, and international awards for best director for LAST DAYS and STRANGERS. Shutterspeed Projects has its films on Mnets Dstv, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Iroko Tv among other platforms. I have also directed many other successful films like AKI AND PAW PAW and INTRODUCING THE KUJUS,
One of my indispensable approaches to storytelling and film; to the applaud of viewers, are strong memorable character that embed themselves in the audience and inure beyond the viewing experience. Characters like “Jobe” in Picture Perfect, “Todowede” in Breadedlife and “Ajinde” in Looking for Baami remain fan favourite till date. I seek to bring out the best in my cast while paying attention to production details.
