SHOWGIRLS
SHOWGIRLS, a kooky slice of reel life.
Set in a cinema, this mad cap web series centres around the capers of two girls and their eccentric boss. With never a dull moment and more film references than you can shoot a Nerf gun at, this is hilarity at it's best.

Brought up in New Zealand's Bay of Islands, 34 year old Ben Legg says storytelling is everything. "You've got to think of your audience first. How do you want them to feel?"
Legg is particularly excited about how 21st century technology has disrupted traditional distribution models - "Anyone can share their stories now...its incredible! The beauty of web series' is that as a concept, it's uncharted territory. Online is a medium that turns it's back on old viewing formats - now you can literally make whatever you want. I don't think the screen industry has had that freedom since the the turn of the 20th century...it really feels like a new frontier."
He cites Edgar Wright, Terry Gilliam, Peter Jackson, Graham Linehan, and Stanley Kubrick as his biggest role models. "They all did something different. Unusual. Colourful. Each of them looked at what other people were making, and then went off in a different direction entirely. Hit or miss, everything they make is worth the watch."
SHOWGIRLS, first and foremost, is about joy. It sings a love song to cinema, it shouts girl power at the top of it's lungs, and it's optimism is utterly infectious. SHOWGIRLS can't help but make you smile.
