【We are open again! 】
This time the Festival expands to 3 cities in Japan, Tokyo, Nagano, Ibaraki !
We accept films completed since 1st January 2015.

【VISION】
2019 Festival was very successful with high quality and yet independent spirited films.
Some of the films have amazing casts such as Yui Masayuki (Akira Kurosawa film), Naoto Takenaka (Shall we dance), Gérard Depardieu (Academy awards winner) .

We also invited the producer Mr. Bruce J. Nachbar (Party of Five) to talk about Hollywood filmmaking.

Our Festival was founded by TOKYO CINEMA UNION, Japan's probably only Filmmakers Union, to provide opportunity for filmmakers to have broader and wider exposure to the audience.

The Festival is super focused on Filmmakers Exposure and their VERY NEXT STEP.

In that regard, we are glad to announce this great news!
We secured Japanese Online Distribution of the films which are nominated at our festival via DOKUSO (Japanese VOD).

Also we are now expanding our Festival to 3 cities!
TOKYO, NAGANO and IBARAI.
Your nominated film will be screened in three cities and this means a lot more exposure.

The Festival and Dokuso (VOD) and 3 Cities will be working and promoting in coordination so that the nominated film will have maximum exposure and impact.

【FESTIVAL】
SHINJUKU WORLD FESTIVAL will be held in the central TOKYO and Also NAGANO (Southern Japan )and IBARAKI (Northern Japan)

The Festival focuses on "DISCOVERING CULTURE" through cinema, celebrating cultural diversities.

LOVE, MUSIC, FOOD, LGBT, COMEDY and ANIME are the prominent categories.
We have also FICTION DRAMA category.

We are passionate about ART of STORY TELLING.
We are eager to get those stories out into the world. We believe so many great stories have to be told in this world.

And Independent films can do that. Telling stories about social issues, human rights, art, and more... all these are universal theme that connects us all.

As Akira Kurosawa puts it "Cinema can bring world peace"

It was a very joyful experience to be selected into the short film program. I attended as both a contributor and a guest and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Yusuke Hayami and his team have great taste and I loved the selection of short films they showed over the 3 days. The venue itself is beautiful and comfortable. The night of my screening was also an amazing experience as we were able to use the venue for several hours afterwards for networking and interaction with the audience. I hope the festival continues into the future and I look forward to my next opportunity to attend!
