Director Statement

Death is a constant theme that I explored in my cinematographic works since I am interested in the different perspectives that I can create through this natural event.

Within my story, I explore the story of Beto, on his birthday he decides to commit suicide until he is visited by the own death, who ends up seducing him.

I was always interested in exploring the character of death in one of my short films, for the character we are based on the character of ¨The seventh seal¨ by Ingmar Bergman and on the literary work, called ¨Death with Interruptions¨ by José Saramago, where Mariana Batista acquires a more neutral and observant acting tone to seduce the main character of the short film.

Beto is a character inspired by my own experiences and an inherent fear of death, he is a lonely character who finds it difficult to socialize, so he finds a safe place with Hela and lets himself be carried away by the seduction caused by death itself.

The short film was filmed in one night, we had a reduced crew due to the current pandemic and we managed to record everything before dawn since it was important to mark a contrast with the rebirth of a new day with the death of the main character.
