Summer Challenge 2016 Rules
1. Summer Challenge 2016 is open to U.S. residents only.
2. Entry fee is non-refundable.
3. With the exception of music, all Challenge materials may only be created during the scheduled Challenge time. For example: you can use a previous idea but you may not use a script written prior to 7pm EDT, July 22, 2016. Recorded music may be used IF you get permission and provide documentation.
4. Film must be within one of the provided genres. Genres may be combined. For example: if the options are Horror or Musical, the finished short must be a horror film, a musical, or a musical horror film. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
5. Must use all assigned elements (prop, line, and character) which will be assigned at the beginning of the challenge at 7pm EDT, July 22, 2016. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
6. Maximum run time is 6 minutes PLUS pre-roll. Pre-roll must be 2 seconds of black, 5 seconds of credit block, and 5 seconds of black. Credit block must include: "Team Name, Title of Film, Genre, Created for Soo Film Festival Summer Challenge 2016, www.soofilmfestival.org”
7. Teams will receive their form packet (release forms and team info) after registration. Forms must be returned with their films. Completed forms may be emailed to challenge@soofilmfestival.org with Team Name in subject line, or mailed to Soo Film Festival Summer Challenge 2016, PO Box 1596, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, 49783, and must be postmarked on Monday, July 25, 2016. Missing forms could result in disqualification.
8. SENDING YOUR FILM: Completed films must be uploaded to the Challenge site on FilmFreeway.com. Upload must BEGIN by 7pm EDT, July 24, 2016. Any films uploaded after that time will be disqualified.
9. Any participants under the age of 18 must have parent/guardian’s signed permission.
10. Judges' decisions are final.
