Short Eco Film Festival (SEFF) in the Land of Maramures, Romania, on 5-8th October 2017!

This free international festival, opens its (beautifully crafted wooden) gates for all those who have something to share or who seek enlightenment about diverse themes such as ecology, sustainability, the conservation of nature, biodiversity and plenty more topics related to our relationship with nature.

Have you produced in the last 2 years any videos that you would like to show at this international festival? They could be about wildlife protection, local environmental heroes, climate change, protected areas, species of plants or animals, rivers and forests, marshlands, waterfalls, lizards or marine ecosystems. You are only limited by your creativity as we welcome diverse approaches and points of view.

After having viewed all the films presented in the competition, the jury awards:
- Prize for the best film in the category of Micro Eco
- Prize for the best film in the category of Super Eco Short
- Prize for the best film in the category of Eco Short
- Prize for the best film in the category of Eco Smart
The Jury may also award special prizes. The decisions about the awards in the competition categories are made by the Jury in public decision-making.

The organizer of the SHORT ECO FILM FESTIVAL - SEFF is Green Valley Association (Asociația Valea Verde) from Sighetu-Marmației, Maramureș, Romania.

The Festival in 2017 will be at its first edition and is being held as part of the project “Focus through the Lens: Sustainable Development”, co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the Enlarged European Union.

SEFF is an event which promotes short videos with a focus on ecology, sustainability, conservation of nature and other themes meant to increase environmental awareness. “Relationship to nature” is the key interest in this event and it can be expressed through various topics, such as: wildlife protection, local environmental heroes, concerns and solutions regarding biodiversity protection, climate change and more. SEFF will also be the place for discussions and presentations on environmental issues, as well as the opportunity of networking among the ecologists, film directors, environmental organizations and eco-activists.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Films which are in line with the objectives and themes of the Festival and which are made after 1st January 2015 can apply for the Festival.

Films for the Festival can be submitted by all interested authors, directors, producers, organizations in one of the following competition categories:
Micro Eco (up to 1 minute)
Super Eco Short (1-5 minutes)
Eco Short (5-30 minutes)
Eco Smart (film of up to 15 minutes, made by entrants under the age of 20)

Official languages of the Festival are Romanian and English.
There is no entry film fee.

AWARDS

After having viewed all the films presented in the competition, the jury awards:

- Prize for the best film in the category of Eco Short
- Prize for the best film in the category of Eco Smart

FILM APPLYING

The closing date for the application for the Festival is 1st September 2017.
The number of films that apply for the competition is limited to 3 per producer/director/author.
If more than one film is applied, each of them should be accompanied by a separate application form.

Films with a dialogue or narration which is not in English must have subtitles in English and a dialogue list.

The film for the selection can be registered in one of the ways:

Online, by sending a downloading link, or through the service for transferring big files (www.wetransfer.com) to the e-mail address of the Festival: contact@ecofilm.ro.

By post office or by courier to the address of the Organizer:
Asociația Valea Verde, Str. Traian, Nr. 9, Sighetu Marmatiei, Maramureș, Romania (Attn: Ion Mariș)

The entrant covers all the costs of sending of the DVD of the selected film. DVDs will not be returned to the entrant.
Registered films cannot be withdrawn from the Festival.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Entrants must confirm and warrant legal authority to submit the entry into the Festival and to use all music, images, and content in the registered films. The Organizer does not investigate whether those who registered the film have gained all the necessary permits and copyright. Therefore, the Organizer cannot be taken responsible for any unlawful use of those materials in the registered film.

Anyone who registers the film for the Festival is obliged to allow the presentation of the film at the Festival without any fees.
The Organizer has the right to use photographs of the film, trailer or insert from the film in order to promote the Festival.

ACCEPTING THE TERMS AND REGULATIONS

By applying for the Festival, the person who registers the film accepts all the conditions stipulated in these Terms and Regulations.
