SATE - The Fool (Short Film)
This film was created in collaboration with the rock artist SATE and the release of her album The Fool. She is a cosmic being and explores a connection to the Tarot, aptly named after the hero of the Tarot deck, The Fool.
Reflection can be a powerful thing. On its own, it’s a journey itself, but there is an entire road to walk beyond that. This short film dives into the mythology of the Fool’s Journey these experiences that shade you, slowly making you whole the ultimate metaphor for life itself. How far we’ve come and how far we still want to go. The journey is never over…
The film begins by capturing SATE running through the woods. Brought to an abrupt stop by a mysterious fog-shrouded portal, SATE is transported into three different environments and songs that explore her emotions on the ‘cosmic-rock’ adventure of the Fool, which emphasizes spiritual connections to the tarot, affirming self-belief, perseverance, and authenticity.

If you had to throw the usual labels on him, ANDREW HAMILTON is a narrative director with an unparalleled grasp on the media arts. However, he’s not one for "the usual".
Andrew loves visual storytelling, and connecting people and ideas. Directing blossomed from his love of cinema, while his skills in photography and design have blossomed from his love for music and art. Andrew now finds himself as something of a creative well, with an encompassed understanding of the advertising and creative world, and a deep desire to connect people emotionally to the content they consume.
The brands Andrew has worked with, but not limited to, OVO, AirBnB, Jordan, Mazda, Honda, Samsung, Sabra, Gretzky Estates, President’s Choice, Penny Appeal, and more.
Reflection can be a powerful thing.
Reaching the point where you embrace reflection is a journey in itself, but what about the road that lies beyond that? In some ways, reflection becomes a circle, a never-ending journey of
discovery and growth. SATE’s lyricism spoke to this discovery, presenting us with an honest text that almost felt too precious for the public. It was the kind of music that you listened to while
lying on your bed when you just needed someone that “got it” - a warm hug in some senses, a best friend that only existed sonically.
The music pushed me into the mythology of the Fool’s Journey: these experiences that shade you, slowly making you whole, the ultimate metaphor for life itself. As I dived deeper, I found
myself thinking of how far I’d come, but most importantly, I thought about how far I still needed to go, reminding me that my journey was far from over. It also reminded me of the
interconnectivity of art, the endless pathways that bring us all together through our own expression.
The project began to come into focus as a piece that explored everything that we can be, while still respecting and caring for everything that we currently are, reminding us that this journey
doesn’t control us, it is us.
With the creative challenge being “three pieces that work as one film” it became clear that the
problem was also the solution: three songs with three different points of insight would give us three different SATEs. In a project that needed to explore everything we could be it only made
sense to explore each of these worlds while anchoring them in a narrative: the literal journey of “The Fool”.
It’s my hope that we can share this piece with audiences in a time where this message is needed desperately. We’re locked away inside looking at the world happen through our phones,
constantly comparing ourselves to everyone and everything. It’s easy to lose focus in a world like that. I can only hope that the art we create will have a chance to speak to people and let
them know that it is okay to just be.
