Private Project

Audiovisual poem based on a true story of Roselyne - a woman who forgot to live her life. She could be a reflection of our doubts, the decisions we did not take, the possibilities we did not enjoy. How do we become our true selves?

Director Statement

Film is based on performance of Cécile Da Costa who created main character inspired by real woman. Roselyne was adaptive for the whole life, but one day she radically left everything behind (even her family). Unfortunately right after she has died from cancer, but even on the death bead she was scared to call for help. She didn’t win, but there was an attempt and Cécile decided to give this character her personal strength that might help others. It’s honor for me to use the film medium to articulate hardly expressible things.

At first sight, Roselyne seems like a fragile being, nevertheless she is gifted by enormous essential power. That kind of power appears in every human, who decide to really change something.
Character of Roselyne represents a challenging process of aiming for a strong shift in the life, inner or outer. The film captures feelings of being totally lost in the life and when these moments become unbearable, there is no other way than start to be truly honest. Look at yourself in the mirror, dare to find who you are, wash away identity constructs built in you, just to suit other’s expectations… It’s not easy, but Roselyne dares to do this uneasy task and for me as an artist it’s very personal and inspiring.
