Ten
In an interview with his live-in partner and first male relationship, an African American and former soldier is forced to come to terms with the conflict between his Christian faith and homosexuality. This struggle is exacerbated by the acceptance, non-acceptance of his Christian mother which displays itself in increasingly overt ways, the last of which is an underhanded suggestion for him to be delivered of his homosexuality. This last display, along with her pending visit and in-person introduction to his boyfriend, propels him into a crisis of faith. Desperate, he seeks what he believes is his only out...suicide.

Romel grew up in Lake Arrowhead, CA filling her free time with film, art, and literature. An educator by profession and a writer at heart, Romel has an equal love for film and literature, the second of which inspired her decision to become an educator.
Romel’s filmmaking focuses on the human condition and human connections. In her directional debut “Ten”, Romel writes and directs a beautiful story at the intersection of sexuality and religion.
As I wrap up post production, I'm still amazed and awed by the experience of writing and directing my first film, TEN, telling the story of two beautiful people I first conceived of in a dream some years back. In pre, production, and post, I've had the opportunity to work with truly talented, hardworking, down to earth, genuinely good and kind individuals who I would be friends with even outside of a work setting. I consider myself so very blessed to have had the honor to conceive of and tell this story from start to finish. What a journey. It is my sincerest hope that this story speaks to audiences and reminds them that they are deeply loved and to love deeply.
