Rodrigo Guim is a photographer, documentary filmmaker, ecologist and anthropologist, with a PhD in Communication from the University of São Paulo, in the Audiovisual Media and Processes program. He studied film at American schools such as San Francisco City College and, in Brazil, at the Academia Internacional de Cinema and Sesc, among others. He has produced several short films in various areas of cinema, working as a photographer, editor and director. His first short film about a ritual of the Xavante people of Brazil was released in VHS format in 2001, before DVDs arrived on the Brazilian consumer market. He later began teaching several indigenous peoples of Brazil about the art of photography and documentary filmmaking, producing short videos and documentaries in collaboration and even co-directing with various indigenous peoples. In 2019, he completed his first feature-length documentary, "IN THE NAME OF MY PEOPLE", about the history of more than 40 years of war in Afghanistan, filmed on location in the country and starring Malalai Joya and Noam Chomsky, among others. "DAMS AMONG US" is a 20-year production and his second feature-length documentary as director.
