Rodela: Chasing Sunshine

The film depicts the life of a Bangladeshi bar dancer who constantly encounters challenges as this job is unconventional, and dominant narratives often consider her a sex worker; however, she perceives her profession as a form of performing arts parallel to other entertainment industry performers do and relentlessly bargains for her rights while negotiating with the society.

Director Biography - Jannatun Naeem Kripa

Kripa Naeem is an anthropologist and researcher. She obtained her bachelor’s and master's degrees from the Department of Anthropology, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Her areas of interest include visual cultures, rituals and customs, urban studies, and gender-related concerns. She finds herself a gender activist. Beside this, she has several hobbies, like singing Tagore songs, belly dancing, reading, and traveling
