Rocket

Cohete is an inhibited young man clueless in the world and isolated in his fantasies to also believe he has bad luck. During a party he meets Frida, a girl capable of keeping his feet on the ground. Cohete will do everything possible to not ruin things with her, and soon understands that it will take his feet off the earth far away from living the moment.

Director Biography - Alexis Rios

A student of digital filmmaking at the university of audiovisual media: CAAV. He started in film production, as a staff for the short film "Balón de Oro", produced by IMCINE. He has directed independent short films such as Centinela (Sentinel), La Cita (The Date), Ido (Gone); as well as the live session Now You Know for the mexican band Walksider. He has currently created photographic and audiovisual content for the first event of Ballet Folclórico, Alma de México in Jalisco, presented at Degollado Theatre as a video producer and post producer. He participated in the Sin Señal web series, as a sound engineer, color correction and post-production. He was recently a First AD for a P.O.V. short film named PIG and wrote the script of Regresión (Regression), a short film that participated on 48 hour film project México.

Director Statement

I consider art as an honest influence where it contains a space of answers in which also I do not see as a door to escape from my reality. My intention with this project is to demonstrate that mexican talent exists, a youthful talent that needs resources to be able to overcome the financial obstacles that arise, under the needs that a cinematographic work requires.

For me, the story of Cohete is special because it's a part of me that is reflected in the project, such as, in the character. I want others to find themselves in Cohete, to give input to their sensitivity and accept it. The story of Cohete is simple, a guy who does not allow himself to live in the present and to be lost in his illusions but regrets missing the opportunities.
