Rivers of Gold and Tears
Set in the 1850s, this drama is inspired by a piece of overlooked history: During the Gold Rush, many California farms were run like slave plantations. Even though California was a "slave-free" state for blacks, tens of thousands of Native Americans were forced into bondage. This is the story of what happens to a brother and sister, from the Miwok tribe, when slave hunters murder their parents and sell them to white farmers.
