In Guamal, Meta (Colombia), the community fears for the arrival of the hydrocarbons industry, after the possible affectation to one of its most emblematic rivers. Marlén Arévalo, environmental leader of the region, has had to suffer several threats and harassment because of her defense of the territory.

Ricardo Sánchez is a 22 year old journalist, photographer and videographer, who tries to use audiovisual language to tell journalistic stories, especially related to the Colombian armed conflict and the experiences of people who live in remote regions of the country. Arriesgar la vida por defender el agua is his first documentary, made for a multimedia project that tells the story of three environmental leaders who have been harassed and stigmatized by the Colombian government.
