Ricardo Torres (Caguas, Puerto Rico 1998) began his career in the film industry as a screenwriter. He studied Communications in the University of the Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico. However, it was during a transformative screenwriting course that he unearthed his true calling for storytelling.
"Ruptura" is his first short film, which he not only penned but also directed and produced. Through this film, Ricardo endeavors to amplify his distinctive afro-Latino perspective by shinning a spotlight on stories and experiences from his home that resonate with audiences on a global scale.
For his future work, he plans to continue exploring the themes of identity and independence and how our relationships with others can thwart that growth or impede further recognition of the self.
