Experiencing Interruptions?

Return Ticket

Maahi, an illustrator in her twenties returns to her parents’ house after being away for several years. Old and new relationships are brought to the threshold as she begins to spend time with her father and realizes that grief has changed him in ways that can only be healed through reconciliation. Return Ticket ties fragments of Maahi's past with her present and brings her face to face with a confrontation that have long been suppressed.

Director Statement

Every time I think about our film ‘Return Ticket’, I see a reflection of who I was and how I have grown over the past year. This film has become like a major life event and has helped me discover unexplored territories. People say that creating something helps you find yourself. I personally never believed in this and felt that it is just over-romanticizing your own craft. But, as we started with the pre-production of the film, our own story started to turn Meta. For context, the film talks about co-existence and different view-points, thriving & surviving under the same roof. And what I was personally experiencing on-set was very closely related to these themes.
What matters in the end is that sometimes even after having differences in opinion, we back each other’s decision because that’s what ‘coexisting’ is all about, because that’s what best of the best teams do. My team has helped me a lot in this self-discovery. Now that the film is ready, I hope whoever watches the film takes something home to think about, maybe about their own self or about their own family.
All of us want this to be a smooth sail for the audiences. Just like Maahi and her father.
